Robert Joe Halderman warned Dave ‘world is about to collapse’
Robert “Joe” Halderman, a producer of CBS’ “48 Hours,” has been connected with one of the women who allegedly had an affair with David Letterman.
Assistant District Attorney Judy Salwen said Halderman “wanted to destroy the reputation of Mr. Letterman and submit him and his family to humiliation and ridicule.”
“We have additional information that he is debt to others,” she said. “The evidence is compelling. It shows the defendant is desperate and that he’s capable of anything.”
The day after speaking to his uncle, Halderman allegedly received and deposited a $2 million check from Letterman. He was arrested Thursday outside CBS offices, Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau said.
Halderman, who has no criminal record, could face five to 15 years in prison if convicted.
