Are banks and post office open on columbus day?

Columbus Day is an official federal holiday in the US.The banks, post office and other government offices are closed, so there isn’t mail delivery on columbus day, but the city offices are open. Some private sectors give you a floating holiday for Columbus Day. However they remain open.

All banks will be closed. However, some credit unions may be open. Visit your banking institution’s Web site for details.

Post service
With October 12, 2009 being a holiday celebrating Columbus Day, many U.S. residents do not realize that this is one of the eleven holidays officially observed by the United States Post Office. There is no mail service for this day.
