wisconsin no call list

Wisconsin residents have until Monday, December 1, 2009 to add their number(s) to the current No Call List that will go into effect on January 1. Those who sign up after December 1 will be added to the next list, which will take effect April 1, 2010.

Adding your phone numbers to the No Call List will prevent most telemarketers from calling, but it won’t stop all calls. Under the current law, non-profit organizations, political candidates, and elected officials are all allowed to solicit you even if you are on the No Call List.

To ensure that your numbers are on the do not call list, you can sign up free a couple of different ways:

* Visiting the Wisconsin No Call List website.
* Calling (866) 9NO-CALL (866-966-2255).

Janet Jenkins with Consumer Protection advises consumers to sign up on their birthday every year so as not to forget. She adds, it’s OK to re-sign up at any time so you won’t be dropped from the list. If you miss this deadline, you can always sign up for the April 1st edition. Telemarketing violators are subject to a $100 fine per call.
