Casey Anthony freed from jail on July 17, 2011
Casey Anthony was released from a Florida jail early Sunday, twelve days after she was found not guilty of murder in the death of her two-year-old daughter Caylee in a verdict that drew threats from people across the U.S.

Orange County Jail officials planned to release Anthony some time Sunday under circumstances they refused to reveal. Experts said she would likely be released in the dead of night, and her defense teamwill attempt to remain her out of the glare of the media spotlight.
Wearing a pink T-shirt with blue jeans, Anthony left the jail at 12:14 a.m. together with her attorney, Jose Baez. After 3 years in jail, Anthony was given $537.68 in cash from her jail account and escorted outside by two sheriff’s deputies armed with semi-automatic rifles.
“It is my hope that Casey Anthony can get the counselling and treatment she needs to move forward with the rest of her life,” Baez said in a statement released to reporters.
As midnight approached, upward of 100 spectators had gathered outside of the jail. The group includedaround a half-dozen, sign-carrying protesters who had gathered there, despite a thunderstorm that brought heavy rain over Orlando.
Barbara Tobin, a semi-retired teacher, drove up from Fort Lauderdale and held a “Justice for Caylee” sign.
“I’m disgusted and feel justice has not been served,” she said. “It has really made me feel that there is something wrong with our justice system.”
One of protesters Mike Quiroz said “She better watch her butt. She is known all over the world.”
